Little Barn Owls Nursery, The Orchard

Multi-award winning Little Barn Owls Nursery, The Orchard is located on Cowfold Road in West Grinstead, a 1-minute drive from Buck Barn services. The nursery backs onto the Sussex downs link with ample opportunity for the children to stroll the countryside, participate in outdoor learning and Forest School sessions. We have been  internationally recognised for our unique approach to Early Years Education and have achieved Ofsted OUTSTANDING across each of our nursery sites.

Free-flowing gardens and roaming donkeys!

We have a large free-flow orchard garden, offering an abundance of fruit trees and natural shade as well as a farm school with two friendly miniature donkeys who roam around the garden with the children, chickens, a friendly cockerel and guinea pigs.

Each of our nursery gardens are designed and specially curated by our team to enhance their best assets. Each has a signature ornament such as a caravan or a VW camper to make them all unique.

We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, derived from Northern Italy and world renowned for its progressive philosophy for building an education system fit for children.

We are very keen on developing children’s enquiring minds through a holistic, hands on approach to education which helps children develop their thinking and express themselves creatively. We have an in-house professional artist in a dedicated art studio, known as ‘The Atelier’, which has been built for children to develop their creative research projects alongside the artist and their peers. Often this work turns into projects spanning many weeks and months that has been shared and celebrated all over the world through our professional training school for those in Education who are keen to be inspired by our approach.

Children aged 3 months to 5 years

Our nursery in West Grinstead cares for children aged 3 months to 5 years in two age groups, babies and toddlers and preschool age children.

Friendly Staff

We have a high ratio of staff to children across the nursery and take providing high quality care, teaching and learning very seriously. We have a dedicated Head of Family Support and a dedicated Head of Children’s and Adult’s Learning who work across all of our nurseries. We invest heavily in professional development of our staff at our nurseries because we know that they are the key to children thriving and developing a life-long love of learning.

2 YEAR FUNDING (THE TERM AFTER YOUR CHILD TURNS 2)

Funding is now available for eligible children aged 2-3 and each application is assessed by the Department for Work and Pensions. Eligible families will be contacted by the local family information service with a unique reference code. Once you are in receipt of this code, please contact your nursery for further information. Children who are eligible for 2 year old funding, do not pay any additional service charges which only becomes applicable once claiming 3 & 4 year old funding. Please contact the nursery to obtain a copy of our Parent Information Pack which details our terms and conditions and fee policy schedule for the breakdown of charges.

3 AND 4 YEARS OLD – FREE FUNDING (THE TERM AFTER YOUR CHILD TURNS 3)

All settings who deliver care all year round (51 weeks or more) are permitted to offer ‘stretched funded hours’ to parents which means we are able to offer up to maximum of 22 hours a week each week of the year over a number of days or sessions a child attends nursery. (This is the equivalent of 30 hours a week term time only and is set by the government, not Little Barn Owls).

The government’s policy states that the funding does not cover any snacks, meals, nappies, wipes, additional services or extras that the nursery provides such as farm school, working with artists or specialised personnel. The nursery is permitted to charge for these as ‘additional services’ which helps cover the disparity between the facilities and fully inclusive service Little Barn Owls provides and the rate of funding which is intended to pay for care only.

For details of free funding please contact funding@littlebarnowls.co.uk for further information. It is not possible to design a delivery policy that fits all, however all parents will benefit. Please contact the nursery to obtain a copy of our Parent Information Pack which details our terms and conditions and fee policy schedule for the breakdown of charges.

OUR NURSERY DISCOUNTS

  • 10% discount is awarded to all full time children

  • 10% discount will be given for siblings and twin 1

INVOICING

Fees are collected in advance on the 1st day of every month and are to be paid by standing order electronically. Fees are calculated by taking the weekly figure payable X 51 weeks a year, divided into 12 equal payments and invoices are emailed monthly. Late payment charges occur if fees are not settled by the 7th of the month. Any extra sessions used in the month can be paid by cash or cheque in advance.

REGISTRATION FEES AND SOME BASIC T&C’S

A registration fee of £35, used to cover the cost of the administration fee, is payable along with a refundable deposit of £200 to reserve your child’s place in the nursery. Two months notice is required to terminate your child’s place at any time for all or any days they attend. There is generally no reduction in fees for absence due to holidays and sickness, only in very severe cases would this be considered, and we do not allow children’s days to be swapped for other days of the week. Additional days can be booked in advance ad-hoc for those odd occasions you need extra days where we have the space. Our nursery closes at 6pm so to have time to discuss your child’s day in depth, we ask that children are collected from 5.45 – 6pm. Late collection after 6pm will be charged. Full terms and conditions are provided with the registration form for parents on admission.

CHILDCARE VOUCHERS

Little Barn Owls Day Nursery accepts all recognised childcare vouchers as way of part payment of fees.
